Our roof is mossy. Very mossy. Every now and then, we find half the moss on the ground. No storm outside, no heavy rain. What could be causing this? One day is it fine, the next day whoomp. We don't mind this. (Actually it is rather amusing)

One day while in the kitchen, I looked out and saw two blackbirds. (One male the other female) The picked up the moss in big clumps and chucked them off the roof and over the gutter. They did this tirelessly for another 5 mins until (the male) poked his head up and triumphantly held a grub (of some sort) and promptly swallowed it. Later they were both swallowing worms until, their stomachs satisfied, they flew off.
It was a heart warming and a rather amusing sight. They rolled the moss down the roof like tumble weed. So next time you have an unbearably mossy roof, Call the MossBusters. :)
Sorry for the blurry photos, I was taking photos through a window. :)

Crumbs - should GitW be worried that her roof is evidently so grub-infested that the local blackbird population is treating it like the Harrods Food Hall?

Birds do this on our back roof over the decking, we hear the sound like giant hail stones thudding down but it's just those crazy little winged friends :)
